Illustration Media #5: Acrylic Paint

African Crowned Crane

Ending the continuous 'Ringling Illustration Media' entries, with this 'best' piece.

I can't believe I was able to pull this one off, despite how it was 30-40% incomplete at the time it was due... And even though I had the extra day to finish it, I thought it was not going to turn out well because Acrylics are usually hard for me to work with (since it really dries fast). Not to mention, all the other things that were happening at the time.
I still have some qualms in some areas in this piece (though, not going to attempt to go back just to mess it up)... Though, at least I am happy it turned out great.

EDIT: I realized this while reading through a lot of artist sites and stuff, but I feel REALLY bad that I did not cite the source for this...

I wish I could have asked the original owner of the photograph in the link above, but there was no time, and this 'assignment' had to be done kind of quick...
In the future, I should ask people if I can use their photos as reference instead of just yanking it without consent.

Illustration Media #4: Oil Paint rub and Colored Pencils

Silent Film Actor
Sessue (Kintarou) Hayakawa

American Writer
Langston Hughes

Doing oil (paint) rubs and colored pencils was pretty fun actually, judging by not doing one but TWO pieces, I enjoyed doing this medium. Though, I really should work more on realistic portraits sometime...

Illustration Media #3: Watercolor

A Pair of Two Pears

So... rusty... with... watercolors...
Ehhh... I didn't like the red splotches that seeped out during the painting of this... At least I made them three-dimensional-looking, somewhat...

EDIT:
Since this was from a photograph, and I did not ask the original owner for permission... I am giving credit where the credit is due:

Illustration Media #2: Scratchboard

Puffin with Fish

Scratchboard was tedious, and doing those fish in particular was a pain in the butt. Looking at the overall work here, I wish I could have made it better...

Illustration Media #1: Pen and Ink

Arowana fish (stamp)

My instructor's idea to make this image into a stamp. I admit, I can't help but be amused and just followed his advice.
Though... I still am under the belief that I'm atrocious at Pen and Ink, and I think it's because I have trouble practicing it and getting the hang of it...

EDIT: Giving credit where credit is due.

First Post: Introduction

Hello there, and welcome to my blog 'Kaze no Wanderer' (translation: Wanderer of the Wind).

This art blog is going to be used mainly to post my 'best' and 'good' works that turned out well during my time at Ringling College of Art and Design. Later when I have gained enough confidence in myself, I will expand it to original works that I made outside the classroom walls.

For now, as you can see, it is barren and empty. Hopefully that will change soon.
So, uh... 'bare' with me.
